The Battlestar Galactica Continuity and Timelines Site
There are those who believe that life here began out there, far across the universe, with tribes of humans who may have been the forefathers of the Egyptians, or the Toltecs, or the Mayans. Some believe that there may yet be brothers of man, who even now, fight to survive, somewhere beyond the heavens.

We decided to create life, and when that life turned against us, we comfort ourselves in the knowledge that it was the Cylons that were flawed. But the truth is: we are the flawed creation.
This
site is dedicated to all the various versions of Battlestar Galactica that have
appeared over the years inclusive of the classic series Battlestar
Galactica,
the sequel series Galactica 1980, the 2003 Battlestar
Galactica Sci-Fi Original Miniseries, and the new
Battlestar Galactica television series on Sci-Fi.

First airing in September 1978 on ABC Television in the United States, Battlestar Galactica was a special effects laden science fiction TV series that followed on the success of the motion picture Star Wars. Galactica was the story of a human society in another part of the universe waging a war with a robotic foe known as the Cylons In the beginning of the series, the Cylons launch a sneak attack against the twelve human colonies. The Cylons wiped out all but a handful of humans who manage to barely escape in whatever spaceships can carry them. One military vessel, the huge Battlestar Galactica, a kind of aircraft carrier in space, leads the convoy and becomes humanity's only defense. The commander of the Galactica, Adama, decides to lead the rag tag fleet away from the remains of the Colonies and to seek refuge on a legendary and distant planet known as Earth.
The
premise established, the series went into its weekly run, with the Colonials
battling the Cylons and other foes as they continue their search for the lost
brothers of humanity on Earth. The series was initially
extremely popular, but budget problems and an increasingly rushed production
proved too much to overcome and the series was cancelled at the end of its
single year on the air.
Less than a year later, a sequel to Battlestar Galactica known as Galactica: 1980 was attempted and ran briefly. In this series, the Colonials arrive at contemporary Earth in the year 1980 and attempt to find a way to work with humanity secretly to prepare for the imminent attack of the approaching Cylons. Aimed at a juvenile audience, the series ran for only a few episodes.
Then, after numerous attempts to revive the show, a third television incarnation of Battlestar Galactica was aired in December 2003 on the Sci-Fi Channel. More mature and dark in tone than the original, this two part mini-series revisited the opening storyline of the original series with some significant changes. This time, the Cylons were robotic but could appear as humans, and they are not simply an alien threat, but were originally created by the humans of the Twelve Colonies.
The changes were controversial with many fans of the original series, but the mini-series was well received by critics and was a solid ratings success. The Sci-Fi network soon green-lit the filming of a new television series, which began airing in the United Kingdom in October 2004 and in the United States and Canada in January 2005.
Again, the new series builds on the premise of the ragtag fleet fleeing the Cylons, but is less aimed at kids and is a more focused on dramatic elements. The series did so well in the UK, that at the time of its premier in the United States it was announced that a second season was already being written.

In September 1978, I was first introduced to the
television series Battlestar Galactica. The first time I saw it,
I was only able to view the first two hours of the three hour
premier "Saga of a Star World." When the show continued
past 10:00 pm, I had to stop.
My parents told me it was time to go to
bed.
That really WAS a long time ago. The third
hour, featuring the unveiling of the Ovion's dastardly plot, was
a tale related to me on the school ground the next day by excited
friends.
From that day on I was hooked.
And so, in light of the excitement building
around the competing Battlestar Galactica revival projects, I
thought I would add this page to the growing list of BSG sites
multiplying on the web.
Fleeing from the Cylon tyranny, the last Battlestar, Galactica, leads a ragtag, fugitive fleet, on a lonely questfor a shining planet known as Earth.
