Galactica Videogame Timeline (2003)

On November 11, 2003, Sierra the software publisher released a new video game for the X-Box based on the Battlestar Galactica television show.

It had been developed throughout the previous few years, with an eye to being relevant to both viewers of the old television series, as well as of any new projects.

As a result, there are elements of the game which are taken from the Classic series, elements that are original, elements from the Sci-Fi original miniseries that came out shortly after this, but also, and this is kind of interesting, they are apparently elements of the ill-fated DeSanto version of Galactica that was under development for much of the time that the game was being programmed.

The plotline of the game revolves around a war between the Colonials  the Cylons.  While the Cylons in the Sci-Fi series look just like humans, the ones in the game are closer in appearance to the robots of the original series, but redesigned a bit to look more like futuristic soldiers.

The game takes place much earlier in the Galactica timeline than the series; the player controls William "Husker" Adama as a 21-year-old rookie pilot, as opposed to the leader from both series. The storyline unfolds via between-mission CG cut scenes and in-game dialogue between the Galactica and the pilots.

While the look of the Galactica game is considerably different from the series, the most recognizable of the original series' sound effects have been carried over into the game, and the Cylons' robotic speech is also faithful to the classic show. There's even a pleasingly bombastic soundtrack backing the action.

So, based on the Classic Galactica timeline the game is set sometime around 7266.

Adama is born.  (He reveals he is over a hundred yahrens old in "Lost Planet of the Gods").
