Desert Trip - December 2000

 

On December 2, 2000, Janet and Mark took a trip out to Palm Springs and to Joshua Tree National Park. Below, you will find some of the pictures.

 

 

 

 

First off, here's Mark in front of the Chamber of Commerce in Palm Springs. There is so much 1950's era stuff here, and all the rocks and cactus really make it feel like you are in Bedrock - Fred Flinstone's hometown.

And here's the main road going to downtown Palm Springs..

By contrast, Joshua Tree National Park seems more like the place where they must have "filmed" the Roadrunner cartoons. Definitely coyote country. We didn't see any coyotes, however. But we did discover a desert fox.

Here's the two of us at a rest area. Note the Joshua Tree to the left. That's where the park got its name from...

It's also where U2 got their album title from in 1987. And where they took the album sleeve pictures (see below)..
