Solvang, CA
In late August 2001, Janet and Mark visited Solvang,
California - which is about 30 miles from Santa Barbara in
Santa Barbara County.
Solvang is known as
the "Danish capital of America." The architecture
of all of the buildings in the downtown area is the same
style as that of the "old country" - Denmark.
The picture to the right shows one of the main streets in Solvang.
The picture below is of a windwill in town.
To the lower right is a picture of Janet in front of a mini-mart downtown.
One of the highlights of the trip - we picked up a bucket of Danish butter cookies at the Olsen's Danish village bakery.
